Den Haag is home to one of the most diverse Muslim communities in the Netherlands. With over 60,000 Muslim residents across the city and surrounding areas, the demand for high-quality halal dining — particularly cuisine that goes beyond kebabs and shawarma — has never been higher.
At Anaya Foods, all meat dishes are 100% Halal certified. This isn't a marketing claim — it's a foundational commitment made when the restaurant opened, and one that hasn't wavered since. Here's everything you need to know.
What Halal certification means at Anaya Foods
Halal certification at Anaya Foods covers all meat served in the restaurant and available for delivery: chicken, lamb, and prawns. Our supplier is certified, our kitchen processes are designed to maintain Halal integrity, and every meat dish on the menu is clearly marked with our Halal tag.
For guests who require strict Halal dining, we recommend letting us know at booking so we can ensure your experience meets your requirements fully. We are always happy to answer questions directly — call us on +31 70 383 9500 or email contact@anayafoods.nl.
Our halal meat dishes
The meat menu at Anaya Foods is deliberately curated — every dish is something the kitchen does exceptionally well, rather than a long list of mediocre options. Current halal meat dishes include:
- Hyderabadi Dum Biryani — slow-cooked aromatic basmati rice with tender chicken and whole spices, sealed and steamed in the traditional dum method
- Chicken Tikka Masala — tandoor-grilled chicken in a rich tomato and cream sauce
- Lamb Rogan Josh — slow-braised lamb in Kashmiri spices, a dish that rewards patience in both the cooking and the eating
- Prawn Masala — fresh prawns in a spiced coastal gravy inspired by the seafood cuisine of the Konkan coast
All meat dishes are served with complimentary rice and are available with naan or roti.
Dining with mixed groups
One of the most common scenarios at Anaya Foods is a mixed group — some guests eat halal meat, others are vegetarian, some are vegan. Our menu is designed exactly for this. Every table can order freely without compromise: vegetarians have a full range of dishes, vegans have clearly marked options, and meat-eaters have a certified halal selection. No one has to settle.
This makes Anaya Foods one of the few restaurants in Den Haag that genuinely works for Iftar gatherings, family celebrations, and mixed office dinners where dietary requirements span multiple communities.
