How Anaya came to be

2020
Swati's Home Kitchen

Swati begins cooking her family recipes for friends and neighbours in Den Haag. Word spreads fast — people keep coming back, and bringing others. Something is clearly here.

2022
The Leap

After years of home deliveries and pop-up dinners, Swati decides it's time. Prem steps in to build the business around her food — finding the perfect spot at Duinstraat 1, a stone's throw from the beach, and bringing in Ali as head chef to help bring the vision to life.

Opening Day

Anaya Foods opens its doors in Scheveningen. The queues form from day one. Reviews pour in — guests describe it as 'the real India' and 'better than restaurants in India itself'.

Evolution

With a loyal base of regulars and 500+ glowing reviews, Anaya evolves — introducing chicken, lamb and prawn dishes to celebrate the full diversity of Indian cuisine, while keeping its vegetarian soul at the heart of everything.

Swati is the soul of Anaya Foods. Her family recipes — drawn from Punjab, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh — are the reason people come, and the reason they return. From her home kitchen in Den Haag to one of the city's most beloved restaurants, she has never once taken a shortcut.

Ali is the hands that bring Swati's vision to every plate, every evening. As head chef, he leads the kitchen with the same commitment to freshness and authenticity that Anaya was built on — whole spices, daily prep, no compromises.
